Beretta's Pamplemousse | El Moro Spirits & Tavern
Serious Eats / Maggie Hoffman
It takes a pretty perfect cocktail to get me excited about drinking at brunch. Usually when the brunch menus arrive I’m full of optimism for the day planning afternoon walks and flea market visits ambitious dinners out and maybe a trip to the beach. I go for coffee and until the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce have convinced me to take a nap I’m far too ambitious to drink anything that will slow me down.
But sometimes a drink is so good that it passes around the table—you have to taste it—and everyone orders one (or two). The pamplemousse at Beretta on Valencia Street in San Francisco is one such drink: bright and tart and as refreshing as the fresh grapefruit juice it’s made with.
