I've done several YouTube TV tutorials, but recently I've received a lot of comments from viewers asking how to watch YouTube TV on a real TV. First, on your computer, you need to sign up for the free trial or sign up for a YouTube TV subscription if you haven't already. This will require a Gmail address, password and credit card. And yes, the credit card is required even with the free trial. To avoid being charged, you can cancel before the free trial ends.

Now that your account is set up, the easiest way to watch YouTube TV on an HDTV is to install the app. All smart TVs will have the ability to download streaming software from different providers. On my LG TV there is a content store where I can find the YouTube TV app to download. If you have another brand of TV, there should be something similar. Once installed, log in with your Gmail address and your account password and you're ready to go.

But what if you have an older TV or a TV without the ability to install apps? In this case, you'll need an external streaming device like a Chromecast, ROKU, Apple TV, or Amazon FireStick. I have a 13 inch Samsung TV that doesn't have any smart features, so I use my Chromecast to watch YouTube TV on it. The Chromecast plugs into an HDMI port and when I log in with my Gmail address, I can access everything like I do on my smart TV. Streaming devices are very cheap, so this is a great solution without having to upgrade your TV.

If you are a gamer, you can watch YouTube TV using an Xbox or Playstation gaming console. This is ideal if you don't have a smart TV or have an external streaming device. On either console, simply go to the App Store and download the YouTube TV app. Again, just log in with your Gmail address and password to access YouTube TV. But if you're not a gamer without a smart TV, I suggest getting one of the cheap streaming devices I mentioned earlier.
