Meat pies or beef hand pies―flat pastry filled with a curry-spice mixture of ground beef onions potatoes and carrots―are common in homes and street snacks in Nigeria. I grew up in Warri on the southern coast of Nigeria and my family bought them from fast food restaurants instead of making them at home. They were good enough but it wasn’t until I went on holiday to Lagos that I fell in love with the meat pies at Mr. Biggs Nigeria’s most popular fast food restaurant chain.
