Sometimes when I’m eating a plate of pasta with tomato sauce I think to myself Man what I really want is a bunch of little rocks scattered across these noodles. I mean who doesn’t think that? I can’t even begin to describe the relief I feel when I finally have a plate of shell-studded spaghetti alle vongole in front of me and I can fruitlessly tap the tines of my fork against all those stony bivalves as I try to dislodge the last strands of pasta.
I'm kidding of course. Italian pasta with mussels has the dual honor of being one of the best seafood dishes in the world and one of the best pasta dishes. It's just that the way it's often served with the pasta full of mussels is seriously flawed.
