Since my big move to the south I’ve made it a point to try as much southern food as possible. One of my recent experiences was at a seafood boil which really showed how different southern food is from what I was used to in Colorado. What I didn’t expect however was the regional differences in fast food. From Cook Out to Jack’s (which I learned is very different from Jack in the Box) there’s a whole world of fast food here that I didn’t even know existed.
So you can imagine my surprise when I ate at the Southern fast food chain Zaxby's and discovered that it tasted exactly the same as another fast food place I had previously driven almost an hour to get to.
On a recent trip back to Alabama after visiting a friend in Florida I decided to stop at Zaxby’s for a quick bite. I had never tried it before so I was pretty excited to devour my chicken breast meal. But when I took my first bite I had to pause. There was something strangely familiar about the flavor. Then it hit me: this chicken breast from Zaxby’s tasted almost exactly like the one from Raising Cane’s.
